Ariadne's Travels

In the spring of 2004, my best friend and I took a trip down to Louisiana, spending 5 nights just outside the French Quarter of New Orleans, and 3 nights exploring the countryside. As New Orleans is supposed to be Gambit's hometown (and as Rogue may or may not have spent some of her youth in Louisiana), I thought it was appropriate that I include our adventures on my site.

Before I begin, there are several points I'd like to make. First of all, I'm not a big drinker...never have been, never will be. My best friend used to be, but has since become a wuss like me (well...she's not quite as wussy as I am), so don't expect any drunken exploits in my descriptions. Yes, we went to Bourbon Street almost every night, and yes, we were privy to the drunken debauchery there, but neither of us consumed more than 2 alcoholic beverages on any given night, nor did we expose any body parts in order to "earn" beads. In my humble opinion, I believe my body is worth more than cheap, plastic beads. Plus the bed and breakfast where we were staying gave us some for free.

On the same note, I just want to remind everyone that the legal drinking age in the United States is 21 (believe it or not, Louisiana only recently upped the age to 21). My purpose is not to encourage people to drink, nor dissuade people from drinking...but drinking to excess is just not for me. In my descriptions I do mention some drinks, and go into a bit of detail about absinthe. I don't think it's necessarily inappropriate for young people to read, but I think it's worth mentioning that both my friend and I were of age (24 years old) at the time of this trip.

Just as I've taken on a pseudonym, I thought it was only fair to change my friend's name as well. I'll refer to her as "Holly" throughout my narrative. If she ever reads this, I hope she'll appreciate the appropriateness of the name I've chosen for her.

And now, without further ado, I'll let you read about my trip. I've organized my information into sections, depending on how much detail you're interested in reading. As usual, if you have any questions, want more details, etc. please feel free to e-mail me.
