"What is it that pulls a man in many directions all at once...but which at the same time...also holds a man together? It is his soul. And whether good...or evil...or a combination of both...a man cannot escape the urgings of his soul..." ~ Uncanny X-Men #350

This site is devoted to the somtimes intriguing, often tormented, but always passionate relationship between Rogue and Gambit, in its many forms. Originally conceived as a fanfic site, Cold Hands, Warm Cards is growing into something much more...

Though all of the stories posted here are of my own creation, the characters themselves are not (see disclaimer). I have made every attempt to stay true to the personalities of each character, and hope I've accomplished that feat. Comments are always welcome, so if you have any, please feel free to contact me.

Enjoy!

Finally, an update!!! It's been a long time, for sure, but I'm back, and I have a small gift for all of you - the following sections have been updated:

♦ Essential Rogue and Gambit - new Ultimate X-Men section
♦ Quotable Rogue and Gambit - new Ultimate X-Men section
♦ Image Gallery - Ultimate X-Men covers added to appropriate sections (to see them all in one place, simply             go to the Covers Only section by clicking here)
♦ Random Rants - new rant, A Rogue By Any Other Name
♦ Unrelated Links - several links to sites about my latest obsession, The Twilight Saga

I'm also trying to revive my Recent Romy section (on the top of the right menu), which includes some interesting, if not a bit dated, news about Rogue and Gambit in the upcoming Wolverine and the X-Men cartoon.

Now that I'm living in an apartment, it will be more difficult for me to get scans up (since my scanner is in my parents' house). I will, however, try to get some work done every time I visit them. My next goal is to scan images from the Ultimate X-Men issues I've just added to various sections (other than the covers, which I've stated are already up).

I'm back to work on Possession, but don't know how long it will take to finish the next chapter...I'm also attempting to write a novel - an actual, original work - so that may be slow in coming. I have plans for more updates as well, since I still haven't done any work on the first ongoing Gambit series, Age of Apocalypse, or the most recent incarnation of Rogue and Gambit in New Exiles. So much to do...

Until next time (hopefully next month)...

Updated January 20, 2008 @ 5:39 pm EST

I'm excited to announce that the latest part of Possession is up and running! To read chapter 4, titled What Ravages of Spirit, click here. Or, if you need to re-read it from the beginning (I know it's been a long time since I updated), feel free to go to my Fanfic Titles section to chose a chapter. I've also added one quote to my Inspiration section. All of the above links can be found under found under Fan Fiction.

But that's not all...I've finished working on my Blood of Apocalypse TPB (which covers X-Men #182-187) and have added relevant summaries and quotes to my Essential Rogue and Gambit and Quotable Rogue and Gambit sections, both of which can be found under Rogue/Gambit. I've also uploaded what few scans there were to the Image Gallery (again, under Rogue/Gambit).

In an attempt to keep things up to date, I've also included stuff from the most recent Rogue and Gambit goings on. Although I posted images from X-Men issues #200-202 and 204 previously, I hadn't done much else. Now there are quotes from those issues, in addition to New X-Men #46, which contains literally hot-off-the-presses Romy action (the issue was published last week) in Quotable Rogue and Gambit. There are issue summaries of X-Men #204 and New X-Men #46 in Essential Rogue and Gambit, and images from New X-Men #46 in the Image Gallery. Helpful hint - New X-Men #46 info can be found under the "Miscellaneous" heading of any of the aforementioned sections.

I think that's just about it...I know it mustn't seem like much, but writing, proofreading, organizing, and actually getting this stuff posted takes quite a bit of time...

For the next update, I'm aiming for images/summaries/quote collections of the first Gambit Series now that I have most of the issues...possibly images/summaries/quote collections of Ultimate X-Men's Rogue and Gambit, as brief as their run together was. I also really need to get a move on SI 12, but it's unlikely that will be included in the next update.

And don't forget - there's supposed to be some major Rogue and Gambit action coming up in the comics. Once the Messiah CompleX is over (it ends this week in X-Men #207), Rogue and Gambit are supposed to play a part in X-Men Legacy, which is the new title for the X-Men series. Also, an alternate version of Rogue is in New Exiles, and she's supposed to meet an alternate version of Gambit in the next issue (out February 13...just in time for Valentine's Day).

To keep up with the latest Rogue and Gambit news, visit my Recent Romy section, which is updated as often as necessary...

I hope the new year is everything you had hoped it would be!

Updated December 30, 2007 @ 6:07 pm EST

It's been quite a while, I know...and this update isn't as large as I had hoped it would be. However, I'm pleased to announce that I've finally completed the next chapter of Possession. I still need to edit it - which means reading it over and over again until I'm convinced that it's absolutely perfect - but it will definitely be included in next month's update. Also, I'm halfway through writing up summaries/quote collections for the Blood of Apocalypse TPB, which will also probably be in the next update.

But now, let's focus on the present...

You may have noticed a slight color change on the site...there have been a few complaints that the color scheme is difficult to see on some monitors. For my part, I've tried viewing my site from any number of different computers and have never had a problem, but I apologize that others have. I hope the brighter red is helpful.

I finally got my hands on the first Gambit Limited Series, and have added summaries and quotes to my Essential Rogue and Gambit and Quotable Rogue and Gambit sections, both of which can be found under Rogue/Gambit. It's a great story because we finally get to meet Gambit's family, learn a little about his past, and watch him purposefully choose to pursue a relationship with Rogue.

I've also added an "Almost Kiss" from the GLS to my Kiss and Tell section (under Rogue/Gambit).

Perhaps less exciting, but far more difficult to organize, I've added a bunch of scans to the Image Gallery (again, found under Rogue/Gambit). In addition to the obvious inclusion of the GLS covers, and finally posting the actual RLS covers (with the "Rogue" title on them), I've also posted more recent images - Rogue and Gambit together in X-Men #204 and on the X-Men #205 cover, and some solo Rogue pics from X-Men #194, X-Men #195, and X-Men Annual 2007. There are some other scans from X-Men issues #200-202 that I put up a while ago, but I'm not sure that I ever mentioned it...

Lastly, there are two new X-Men related links in my links section: Trusting Touch, the Gambit/Rogue Fanlisting, and Impossible Love, a Rogue and Wolverine site.

Ok folks, that's it...I hope that's enough to satisfy your appetites for a month. Many thanks to those who post on my CBox (hey Vikki!) and write me e-mails...your support is appreciated.

Happy New Year, one and all!!!

Updated October 21, 2007 @ 7:27 pm EST

This update primarily involves my Essential Rogue and Gambit and Quotable Rogue and Gambit sections, both of which can be located under Rogue/Gambit. I've added the remaining Rogue and Gambit relevant X-Treme X-Men issue summaries and quotes to these sections, thus completing my work on the series. I've added X-Men #166-174 to them as well...I should mention that these issues in particular tend to spend a lot of on our favorite X-couple.

Perhaps a tad less exciting, I've also added what few moments I could glean from the above mentioned issues (plus one I forgot to add earlier) to my Kiss and Tell section (under Rogue/Gambit). There's one entry under "Absorption," two under "No Absorption," and one under "Almost Kisses."

My Age of Apocalypse TPBs have yet to be opened, and I have two more relatively recent TPBs on the way, so in a couple of months, there will be more summaries/quotes/kisses to post.

But for now, I'm going to focus on my fanfic. I haven't forgotten it, and am hoping to have the next part of both stories up next month. In fact, I'm seriously considering trying to alternate my updates - one month fanfic, next month facts, next month fanfic, etc. I'll see what I can do...

And don't forget, rumor has it that the "Rogue and Gambit reunion" is supposed to happen in X-Men #204, out this Wednesday, October 24. As soon as I buy a copy, I'll post a brief summary and my reactions on Recent Romy.

Have a happy (and spooky) Halloween!

Ok, I have lots to share, so let's get right down to it, shall we?

First of all, I'm going to try to update this site once a month...now that school's back in session, that seems to be the best I'll be able to do. But I don't think that's all that bad.

On to the updates...I've finally managed to get my image gallery up and running! I've been talking about it for months now, and it's taken me this long to get it all together; the pics arranged in several different ways for your convenience. It can be found under Rogue/Gambit, as....um...Image Gallery.

I've also added an image of a lovely Rogue and Gambit pen and ink drawing to Rogue and Gambit Collectibles (under Rogue/Gambit as well).

And then there's my latest venture, Recent Romy, where I'll be posting what's going on between Rogue and Gambit in the comics...and adding my 2 cents worth. This section will be permanently available via this page at the top of my side menu (above the CBox). It will be updated more frequently than the rest of the site, so keep an eye on the date below the link.

That's all folks. Both fanfics are in the process of being written - temporarily put on hold while I finished organizing the image gallery so I could include it in this update - and I've purchased the four trade paperbacks that cover The Age of Apocalypse, so there will eventually be more images, issue summaries, and quotes.

Until next month...

Updated August 19, 2007 @ 1:36 pm EDT

I know, I know...it seems like it's been forever since I wrote my "important message" on the previous layout (at the previous web address). I've spent most of the time between then and now carefully translating my HTML into XHTML and CSS. I know most people use programs to build their sites, but I do mine entirely by hand, so it takes a while to get it right. In any case, I hope everyone likes the new look.

In addition to changing the code, I've proofread all the pages again. I was a little upset to discover a scattering of mistakes (misspellings, using the wrong tense of a verb, etc.), but I guess no one's perfect. Although I questioned some of the punctuation in my fanfics, I ultimately left that alone.

I've viewed all the pages in both Firefox and Internet Explorer, and most of them work just fine in both. In the few instances where they didn't look right in one version or the other (namely because the amount of space a "space" takes up is apparently slightly different in the two browsers), I made a different page for each to ensure optimum viewing by all. I myself prefer Firefox, but you should be fine no matter what browser you use.

And check out the new icon image...it appears next to the web address/on the tab. Pretty cool, eh?

If anyone has any problems at all - a link doesn't work, a page doesn't exist, etc. - please let me know. I've done my best to check all the links, but there are so many that it's quite possible I've missed a couple.

Speaking of links, I've changed the way I do them as well. Links within text look just like the rest of the text...if you move your mouse over the words, the cursor will become a crosshair and the words will become underlined when you hit a link. Usually links are found where there are titles of other sections/websites (where the fist letter of each word is capitalized) or phrases such as "click here," "e-mail me," or "let me know." Just FYI.

Enough, enough...I guess it's time for you to explore. I've added a few sections (and moved a couple around) just for good measure. Under Rogue/Gambit, you can now find Rogue and Gambit's Children and X-Movies...and Beyond, both of which have been around for a while, but were somewhat hidden within the site. I also created a new section to show off my Rogue and Gambit memorabilia, Rogue and Gambit Collectibles. Under Site, there is now a History section and a Site Map, and that is also where you can find some basic information about me, under Webmistress.

So please, feel free to wander the pages...and, if the spirit moves you, leave a comment on my brand new CBox.
